This week, we’re excited to have the author of Expecting Perfect and the All Things Mama hostess herself, Nadine Bubeck. She’s giving us a peek into her timi & leslie Marie Antoinette bag and a look at her signature mom style. We love Nadine and we are always swooning over little Nicholas (doesn’t he have the MOST beautiful eyes?) Follow Nadine’s journey through motherhood on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.
Tell us a little about your little one!
My son will be one on August 12th, 2014; I want to press pause…I can’t believe how fast time flies. My little blessing was born 6 weeks early after a rocky pregnancy, but he was born a beautiful 4-pound fighter. My Nicholas is the light of my life. He’s grown into such a strong little boy: he wakes up with a smile, his laugh fills me with joy, and he constantly amazes me with how he is naturally becoming his own little person and personality. I could write about him for hours and days…he’s my little mama’s boy and I’m proud of him every day. He’s made my heart full.
When you’re not being super mom, what are you up to?
Every mom is a super mom; we all have our unique and individual magical powers to keep the balance and peace. I’m just doing the best I can to give my son a stable, happy, healthy, peaceful upbringing. BUT…when I’m not chaining diapers or chasing my mega crawler around the house, you can find me at my computer. I most recently published a book, Expecting Perfect: My Bumpy Journey to Mommyhood, my completely candid, uncut, and totally raw pregnancy journal. I also produce and host a YouTube-based online mommy show, All Things Mama.
What’s your favorite timi & leslie diaper bag?
The Marie Antoinette bag. Now that I’m a mom, I need fashionable AND functional. Even though my bag is full of diapers and butt paste, this bag reminds me I am still a style-loving woman. The bag looks good, feels good, and has features essential to the on-the-go mama. It’s spacious–but not too big–and has ideal compartments for all the necessities.
What are 5 things in your bag that are mommy must-haves?
Narrowing down my top 5 is tough because, like any mom, my diaper bag seems to overflow with stuff for every situation and every season.
Besides the norm (diapers, diaper cream, wipes, changing pad, etc), I’d say my additional must-haves include:
1. A change of clothes. You never know when he’ll have a blow out.
2. My son’s go-to toy: a little radio that lights up and plays music. It’s a life saver.
3. Aquaphor: it cures everything.
4. A pair of socks or booties. I never want his feet to get cold.
5. An emergency 3 scoops of formula, an empty bottle, and a bottle of water. Just in case the apocalypse strikes, Nicholas still needs to eat.
Who is your mom style inspiration?
Tough question. I would say I learn best from fellow mom friends. I don’t have a celebrity idol who has access to everything and anything. I like to evolve my own style as a fashionable mom.
What’s your top tip for staying fashionable when juggling little ones?
Ditch the sweats…sometimes. Admittedly, now that I’m a mom I often trade in my stilettos for sweats. It’s just more comfy like that, and besides, my clothes eventually get drenched with spit-up and smell like diapers. However, once in a while, it’s nice to get dressed, do my hair, apply make-up, and venture out of the house–out of babyland–and do something for myself. A little goes a long way!
